This week, we talk to John Goodlad. He's a Shetlander who's writing a book about the Faroe smacks. The smacks were a fleet of boats that plied the waters around the Faroe Islands in the late 1800s. These same boats made up the core of the early Faroese fishing fleet in the early 1900s. Goodland talks to us about the long and intricate relationship between the Faroes and Shetland.
Then, we head out to a small village and make friends with some of its four-legged residents (pictured above).
